All I can say is F*&K Cancer
My uncle passed away last night from a rapid and aggressive cancer. His name was Mark Shuey and those who grew up on the South-End of Lexington in the late 70s-early 80s might have known him or the rest of the Shuey clan. His son, Spencer, was recruited by UK Football for a while but ended up choosing to play for Clemson. He posted on the old board a bit under then name Shuey4UK (I think) and was a die-hard Big Blue fan. He was a warm, jovial, and loving man, who cherished his children and family members dearly and will be greatly missed.
It's incredible how fast the cancer took him. In Sept, he goes to the doctor complaining of chest pains, an MRI scan showed nothing. By late Oct.-early Nov. things have gotten worse and the doctor orders another MRI. This time the MRI shows dozens of cancer spots around the Thymus. More detailed scanning in mid-November shows the cancer is terminal with the cancer having spread throughout his entire body. He opted to die with dignity rather than prolong the inevitable and passed away this morning at 3:17am. He was still lucid enough yesterday to meet with various siblings and family members before he passed.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Pedro. Cancer sucks.
Re: All I can say is F*&K Cancer
Pedro, that is a very sad story. You and your family have my prayers and best wishes in this time of grief.
In 1996, my uncle passed under similar circumstances, and his wife/my aunt passed 3 1/2 weeks later from the same type of cancer. Both of them lived about 2 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. He was a pastor of a country church in eastern MO. and their passing left scars on my dad's family that have not healed to this day.
God Bless you and your family.

Sincere condolences to and your family.

Re: All I can say is F*&K Cancer
Indeed! Having cancer twice opened my eyes to the amount of suffering cancer causes. Not because of me but because of what I saw going in for treatment.
I am sorry about your uncle.
As a reinforcement of your point about “quick” I had a friend, not a close friend, but reliable, who several years ago went thru a battery of tests, sat down with the Doc on Monday who told him, “go home, get your affairs in order, you will be dead in a month” he died that Friday.
Going to MD Anderson is to see hundreds of cancer patients, in only the leukemia wing, in the morning, of the one day I was there. Eff cancer!
