Vogelsong had good stuff last night. Really handcuffed the right handed bats. We wasted baserunners last night too. Gotta hold serve at home now.
Work is messing with my playoff basesball
Game 3, 2-1 Redbirds in the Bottom of the 6th.
2-1, headed to the stretch.
Bases are full of birds, fielders choice for Robinson and a run scores. 3-1 and rain is getting harder by the minute.
Rain delay and severe weather in the area now.
Still in rain delay...
Back to play after 3 hrs of rain delay. On to the 8th, 3-1 Birds on the bat.
A very hypothetical question for Cardinal fans,
Would you trade Molina for Posey straight up?
Ball game.
Nope,Yadi is the glue that holds the Redbirds together.
I'm relying on the catcher in the group for that question. Lot of value to a catcher beyond offensive numbers; even beyond defensive performance, Molina's ability to work with the staff is phenomenal. We have certainly had better bullpen pitching than I ever imagined, and the starting pitching, while somewhat hit or miss, has been more than adequate. A large part of that is probably Molina.
Matheny stated he's never questioned one of Yadi's calls behind the plate this season, not one.
Matheny was a good catcher too, knows of what he speaks.
Game on! Which Wainright will be on the mound tonight?
2-0 Redbirds after 1.
Giants get a dinger, 2-1 after 2.
2-1 after 3. Yadi needed and extra biscuit at breakfast and he would have cleared the fence :/
2-1 after 4.
Yadi finally gets an RBI. 4-1 Redbirds after 5.
TImely hitting by the bottom of the order & John Jay. 6-1 Redbirds going to 7.
2 more in the 7th. 8-1 and the door slammers are coming in from the bullpen.
8-1 and headed for the last 3 outs for the Giants.
Ball game. Sandoval went yard, but to no avail. 8-3 Redbirds. :)
tonight was the good offensive night. Look at Molina, how often does he come up with big hits all year long. Kinda like Miller in basketball, does it all, is the glue to this team, rarely does a ball get by him, keeps runners very honest and close to the bag which at times can save a run here or there. Throw in what he does with the pitching staff and he is the MVP of this team.
Sure would like to wrap it up in St. Louis.
If he could just get us to the 6th. The pen has been soooooo good this year. I wish Lohse was on the mound tonight. No need to burn all that jet fuel back to the West Coast, close em out!
Game 5. Lance Lynn and his 8.59 ERA on the mound...
0-0 after 1...
Bases loaded and an inning ending double play.....:/
Goose eggs all around.
