Trump rightly getting raked over the coals over his post Helsinki presser. He wants to see Hilary's server? Really? Putin denies meddling..and you believe him? Really? That is the best he could come up with? Maybe he REALLY IS AS DUMB as the democrat try to portray you.
I knew this would go really badly from the start. Optics were going to be bad no matter what he said or did, and I was sure he'd say and do enough wrong things to make people go nuts. he's doing it on purpose, he wants to goad them, it's how he does everything.
But in this case he's goading a lot of people he won't intend to goad. Guess I'm not bent b/c I planned on it, will be curious to see where it goes from here more than what happened, b/c I expected him to be as politically tone deaf as possible for this thing.
He's not "dumb", but he is as stubborn as most people who get that high up, and he is defiant to the point of saying and doing very dumb things just to remain defiant. He'll cut off his nose to spite his face, which he has now done.
But I knew this guy as President would be two steps forward and one back in the best possible scenario. I would have picked any one of a bunch of others, but they either didn't run or didn't win.
The good news is Trump's impact when it's negative is in the PR area, substantively overall it's been a very positive Presidency. It's in his behavior that he's a running hot mess.
I find it amazing that the CIA and FBI pronounce guilt without having access to the servers. They are taking the DNC’s word for it that it traces to the Russians. If it was the Russians they would have left a trail pointing toward another culprit.

Good example: that Mexico will pay for the wall. he had no need to say it politically, his supporters have no problem paying for the wall. They'd give to a GoFundMe to build it. FWIW Coach Cal has done that a few times too. Very successful men don't like being questioned by those they see as their "camp", they tend to double down on things that get resistance instead of backing off.
It's just his psychology, not some deep dark plan. Obama wasn't sent here by the mullahs on some secret mission, and Trump isn't a deep cover agent for the Russians.
Obama is just a socialist, and Trump is a reality TV star New Yorker who got where he got by putting his foot in his mouth repeatedly and claiming it was a turkey sandwich.
And he'll do it a bunch more while he's President, and I imagine he'll be President for 2 terms in spite of it.
My only gripe is he thinks his success is because of it, when in reality in politics it's in spite of it. He doesn't see it, and won't. Wish he would, but he's the wrench to break things, can't be too bent when he breaks stuff I like too b/c I knew he would be a blunt tool. But it's all so messed up we'll have to take the collateral damage and hope he breaks a whole bunch everywhere.
Oh, and Putin knows how Trump works, which is why he has never attacked Trump. Even when we bombed Syria Putin never blustered back at him personally. He is playing Trump on that front.
The question is if Trump is playing Putin by going along. We'll only know as we see how policy develops, b/c so far on a policy level we've created more hegemony against Russia in one year under Trump than we did in 8 under Obama.
Is Trump playing a deeper game here? I'm dubious, but the proof will be in what we do policy wise in places like Ukraine.
Do I think this was going to be bad PR for Trump regardless? Yes. Unavoidable no matter what he did.
Do I think he made it worse through his choices? Oh yes, definitely.
But today one "analyst" likened the event to Kristallnacht and even 9/11. Are you freaking kidding me??????
FWIW, that's the "night of broken glass", the beginning of the end of the Jewish people in Germany, when the SA Brownshirts went storming through Germany and in one night killed between dozens and hundreds of Jews, destroyed dozens of synagogues, destroyed thousands of Jewish businesses, etc. It was in many ways the beginning of the arrests and camps.
Really? A photo op meeting was like the kickoff party for the Holocaust or a terror attack that killed thousands and shook the world and set off what is going on a 20 year military occupation? Are you out of your mind? How do you function and do things like basic math and believe that nonsense?
Trump very predictably mishandled the event, but in the end it was a damned press conference which will matter for a few days in the news cycle and then be replaced by the next outrage. It was hardly the equivalent of any REAL tragedy.
I get not liking Trump. I get thinking he's an idiot even. BUt I don't get this level of nonsensical response to his actions or more importantly his ranting words.
The constant referals to Nazi Germany is an insult to the Holocaust and those who suffered that atrocity. Tha acts of a single boorish man and the acts of a man who was responsible for the vile starvation and death of over 7 million innocent people icluding women and children is disgusting

From my viewpoint, anything that helped Hillary lose is a very good thing. I sleep very well at night but I truly shudder to think had she won, we would have Obama and Elizabeth Warren on the Supreme Court.

Its interesting the the Russian meddling scandal is blamed on Trump when it happened in 2016, when Obama was President. Trump had no ability to stop it. Meanwhile, Russia was feeding the DNC dirt on Trump, and the federal govt was using that against Trump and the issue people have is that the Russian influence cost HRC the election. Amazing
