Alabama Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard found Guilty, Removed

Found Guilty on 12 charges tonight.

Blistering indictment here of Alabama politics, beyond just Hubbard.

It's a national epidemic. Not sure that should make anyone feel better, but it's not just Alabama.

Only Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery, voted against Hubbard. A few have since said they regret their decision, but they had a choice and they made it. They had an

opportunity to raise their voices when it mattered, though, and they stayed silent.

A few deserve a place in the Hall of Shame for their Hubbard support.

Rep. Mac McCutcheon, R-Huntsville, stood in that press conference with Hubbard. Not only that, but in the 2015 Legislative Session, he introduced legislation which would have put state prosecutors and investigators under the thumb of the Legislature with his so-called "star chamber" bill.

Rep. Jack Williams, R-Vestavia Hills, was there, too. He sponsored a bill that would have allowed Hubbard to solicit donations from political backers to pay his legal fees.

Rep. Mike Ball, R-Madison, was in the room, and later he blasted the prosecutor, Hart, for selective prosecution of Hubbard.

Congressman Mike Rogers not only stood by Hubbard in that press conference, but he took the microphone to blast prosecutors for "Chicago-style gutter politics" because when Alabama politicians don't have anything meaningful to say, they try to bring it back to Obama.

No, sir. This wasn't Chicago-style politics. This was Alabama-style politics, and nobody was as good at it as Mike Hubbard.

And while Hubbard is heading for the pokey, all those who made him Alabama's political boss are still right here.

Just another democratic ploy? Or is corruption a deep seeded thing in the republican party? The spin machine will go in high gear in Bama now..

One thing is certain, this is an instance where the louder you yell at the other side, and the more accusations one can muster to gain party support at its base, just did not work.

The spin from both sides will continue however, across the country. At least it is obvious there weren't any powerful Ala. Dems having sexual relations at work.

Perhaps they've learned from republicans to limit such behavior to bathroom stalls and such to keep our country safer.

This isn't about party politics Kingcat. The last Bama speaker, a Democrat, was removed due to corruption, so now both parties are even.

Corruption spans across both political parties. Now I will say I have never seen anyone be as brazen about it as the Clintons, it's unreal the amount of money they are taking in as part of what I think is accurately called a racketeering enterprise, but politicians large and small across all the states and parties are as corrupt as ever.

A big part of the current anti-establishment movement is about that corruption. Trump won the nomination in large part b/c he's seen as being less likely to be corrupted b/c he's already rich, and Sanders is all about the fact that he's a basically honest person who is also seen as being less likely to be corrupted.

Our politicians are selling this country out, and the people know it. Whether it's local stuff where a property gets favorable zoning or state level stuff where a road goes through a certain farm and someone gets kickbacks on the contract, or federally where the Clintons have raked in a billion dollars in large part from foreign governments and interests while they made policy on those nations, it's all just a matter of how many zeroes it takes, but it's all selling out our nation.

The basic point is, this has nothing to do with the Clintons, the Bush family, or anyone else.

It is exactly what it is and each side should quit the finger pointing, and accusations that eventually prove unfounded, and see what is proven in its appropriate light.

But in essence we all tend to conveniently change the subject. And no matter how we try to avoid doing so, it proves inescapable

From my perspective..

If Kerry was a traitor, he would have received his just reward. (A lie to prevent his election worthy of severe punishment) If Obama were not a US citizen as even Donald trump claimed to have definite proof of, he would have been punished. (a proven outright lie to benefit his and many other republican's own politics) President Clinton's alleged cover up of a death and possible murder ( A lie perpetrated to set up the former president revealing a sexual encounter in the White house)
The pattern here is inescapable by anyone open to the truth.

. And if Mrs. Clinton is found guilty she will be exposed by the law. If not, it goes to show there is nothing some won't do or accept as necessity to further their political belief and agenda.

Situations like the one we are discussing however,. are not related to the Clintons or the Democratic party. Yet do display what is alarmingly becoming a sad trait of the grand ole party, on a scale never before reached by Democrat and Republican.
With worldwide media support for each side in place to dupe society as a whole. And the nurtured, competitive nature of the same society to fuel it's acceptance

That is the scariest part of our world now. It's an acceptable and promoted practice to win at almost any cost, and we do not hold our own accountable.

I'm a Libertarian, and I was a Libertarian since before anyone knew who they were. I've railed against the established parties since before I could drive a car.

I said clearly that there is corruption on both sides. You may have trouble accepting that the Clintons have taken it to a new height, but that's the truth and anyone with a background in how these things works knows it. Politicians for years have put their donors and cronies in cushy Ambassadorship positions, or collected speaking fees, but no one has amassed the kind of money the Clintons have through direct payments and their fraud of a Foundation.

As for her not being indicted/convicted and that meaning she is innocent, that's a truly naive view of politics, regardless of party affiliation. it's also true of many Republicans who are also guilty of wrong and are never found guilty. Both parties are protected whenever the person in charge of the investigation is from the same party.

Likewise, when the other party is in charge there is a good bit of witch hunting that goes on, while wrongdoing of both their party and the other one goes untouched.

Republican, democrat, it's all the same in that respect. What it's about is politicians who are career political animals, who are about amassing power and influence more than the People's work.

I have said on here repeatedly how much I respect Bernie Sanders, and he's a socialist. I disagree with every idea in his head, but I believe he is honest and sincere in his beliefs, and really does what he thinks is best for people.

I also think Jimmy Carter, despite his myriad failures, was sincere in his beliefs, and even Obama falls into that category, though I think he is the worst kind of American apologist, I think he really does believe that nonsense.

But Clinton, she and Bill are very different. They're pure politicians, only interested in advancing themselves.

FWIW there are Republicans in that camp too, but no one has amassed control over a billion dollar slush fund in just a few short years like the Clintons. sorry, but nothing objectively comes close.

They're guilty as sin, of both national security breaches and corruption, and it's beyond clear. I know too many people with security clearances and what they are required to do with information, and I know too much about how politics works to be fooled.

Anyone who says "the Democrats" or "The Republicans" are corrupt is just a party hack. Both parties are up to their eyeballs in corruption, and most Americans know it, which is why Sanders and Trump have done so well. And it's true at every level of government, only the number of zeroes changes.

BTW, the reason for the corruption is the abandonment of our limited government roots and the embracing of liberalism.

Power corrupts. That is the truth of the universe. The goal of the Founders, and of Libertarianism and the free market, is to decentralize power and to pit power against itself at every turn, whether branches of a government or businesses on the same street. As we concentrate more and more power and influence in the hands of government officials, both elected and bureaucrats, it makes more and more sense to bribe and influence those people bc they have more and more control over the outcomes of our lives, both economic and personal.

Back when the federal government was restricted from doing any projects that didn't impact all the states, there was no reason to pay off Senators for decisions b/c they made few decisions that impacted economic outcomes. But if they are going to regulate your industry, now it pays to make sure they make decisions favorable to you.

And that's where Big Business jumps into bed with Big Government. Halliburton and Bush, Clinton and the Wall Street financial firms, that's all b/c those in the White House have such great control over every aspect of their business.

Get rid of the government regulation, and the corruption goes down b/c there's no economic incentive to own the government officials.

Power corrupts, and the idea that government will take over more and more of our lives yet they will rule over us as humble, benevolent angels who put our interests ahead of their personal interests is beyond naive. It's never happened once in human history and it won't happen here.

it's the entire reason Communism and Socialism fail, and it's the reason we are failing now. Decentralize power, give the decisions back to the People, and watch small businesses flourish, watch the economy grow, and watch as our politicians lose their under the table river of bribery.

It won't be perfect, but it is a damned sight better than where we are heading.
