Does not look like they are going to catch a break this year. Wednesday does not appear to be a good day to visit.

I have a joke here. Not going to use it.
The forecast track has shifted east and forward speed has slowed.
Needs to go a little east. I know it's not going to be a bear, but for goodness sake, please don't hit the poor people in the Lake Charles area again anyway (it's showing east of there, but it's not a far "jig" from back on track...)
Tropical Storm Warning now issued for Perdido Key. The eastward shift feels like the one that ran us off in September.
Always looks worse to me with those kind of images...which are, of course, more accurate than a cartoon character hurricane.
I think we're going to start getting bad weather from it late tonight/early tomorrow morning. Winds around 50-55 mph, I think. That's pretty crazy considering it's not a strong hurricane when it lands, and we're very far inland.
This mornings first image is a measurement of the cloud top temperature. Indication of the strength of the thunderstorms in the rain bands. 2nd one is just an image of the cloud cover in the storm.
This is pretty cool. It's from an oil platform south of Louisiana in the Gulf.
Recorded wind gusts in excess of 150 mph, with 50-foot waves.
And this is just barely a Cat 2...

105 mph currently, 10 miles west of New Orleans. That's exactly where my in-laws are (Kenner).
They didn't answer the phone a minute ago. I'm sure they're fine, but wife a tad worried.
That is one reason I never considered enlisting in the Navy, the Coast Guard or the Marines.
Wasn't that crazy?
Update..wife is on phone with her Mom, and they're fine. They lost power, but otherwise fine. They live 1/2 block, literally, from Lake Pontchartrain, but they have never even had flooding issues. They have a robust levee there that has been inpenetrable (so far).
This is not a joke. Take a look at the tornado warning from the National Weather Service out of Mobile, Alabama. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...71cd2fdcbf.jpg
This storm hit too close to Halloween.
Every time I go visit, I go running along that Lake.
How’s it going in bama? Track shows Zeta is tracking diagonally through the entire state right down the middle.

Don't think it will be that much for us. At least I hope. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fea648ebd2.jpg
From the NWS. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cd03c216b4.jpg
You guys are in for some fun.
We're getting a steady rain here, but an inch of nice soft rain is just a good night for sleeping.
Quiet so far. Wind got up a little about an hour ago, then quieted down. Breezy, but nothing really. Gentle rain so far. Little heavier stuff coming, but it's moving quickly through, which is good.
Well, crud. I'll screenshot it.

Should get a little breezy around 1-2 a.m. Don't think I'll be up then.

That far inland that sure makes more sense.
This one is a little more precise, down to my neighborhood. I didn't know it could do this.
