That is how I (mis)heard the lyrics as a kid. I don't remember when I finally figured out what it was really saying.
(Also for another song that said "and killed a pal of mine" I always wondered "what is a palomine?" at least for quite a while.)

J/K, there were several songs growing up that I didn't have the lyrics right. Even heard a comedy bit about some of the better known ones many years ago, and 2-3 were on my list.

I'ts a Springsteen song, he had it on his debut album Asbury Park, but Manfred Mann's cover made it a hit.
That's definitely one of those growing up where I had no idea what exactly that line was saying. I wasn't even close once I found the correct lyrics, lol.
I'll be dang. I did not know that the boss wrote that tune, and I also did not know he visited the psychedelic world.

A lot of his early stuff had some literary imagery bordering on surrealism--it was almost like he was trying a little too hard to be another Dylan. IMHO he really found himself on the "Born To Run" album.

Born to Run was a worthy piece of work. This is not something I would be proud of if I were him.

Okay, so I feel like an idiot. I just figured out why my car was leaking when it rained heavily. I had no idea a sunroof drained.

Darrell I had the same thing happen with a Pontiac I owned many many years ago. There was nothing in the owners manual that talked about the sun roof drain holes. It drove me batty until I finally took it to the dealership and the shop foreman told me what the problem was.
23 degrees right now, looking at 3 days of winter. Stocked up on bread and milk yesterday when it was 56 :/

I actually never thought about looking in the manual. It just seemed too evident to me that the leak was coming from the drip guard rail on the roof. Never even dawned on me that the sunroof had a part in it. I'm still sort of amazed.Quote:

I bought a 2015 Subaru Forrester in 2018. In less than 2 years I've had issues with a transmission sensor, the alternator and now the heater. After this vehicle I think I'm going back to Toyotas.
