I like Home Alone but it’s just a movie. A Charlie Brown Christmas became part of the zeitgeist however.

Home Alone!
Every kid when they first stayed home alone, had a plan if someone tried to break into the house. Easy movie for anyone to relate.
Funny note about two of these final four movies. Christmas Story and Charlie Brown are part of the tradition in our neighborhood for the last 15 years. On the parkway leading into our neighborhood there are two houses with the simplest decorations. One house is completely dark except for the Nehi Cola leg lamp in the friont window.
A second home has a lone, very spindly, lodgepole pine tree in the front yard that is about 19 or 20 feet high. There can be no more than 2o branches on the tree. The owners hang one very large red sphere from a middle branch that weighs down its branch and bends the top of the tree to the side.
The great thing about both of these homes is these are the only decorations. Both crack me up.
Charlie Brown. Lucy can’t stop make chuck fall today.
Charlie Brown. Easy.
It's not Christmas until I see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPys...VineyardChurch

Charlie Brown
STUNNED that IAWL got beat by HA. Stunned.
But I move on and am saved from making a VERY DIFFICULT CHOICE.
A Charlie Brown Christmas for the win
A side note on it’s a wonderful life. That movie and her tremendous reviews launched the fabulous career of its co-star Donna Reed.
Wilmington, NC, as some/many may know, was for a number of years the home of the largest movie studio outside of Hollywood and a very large number of movies and television series were filmed there. During my 12 years there it was not uncommon to run across something being filmed, talk to someone who had been hired as an extra (a good friend's son was a stand-in for a kid on "Dawson's Creek"), or know someone whose house was being used (another friend's house served as Jim Valvano's house in a movie made about him).
Accordingly, UNCW created a program in "Film Studies" and one of the people affiliated with it was Frank Capra, Jr.
One year a week or so before Christmas he hosted a showing of IAWF and was part of a discussion of the movie. It was very interesting, and somewhat disheartening, to hear the movie was not filmed in some bucolic small town in upstate NY, but rather in SoCal. Lots of other really great tidbits from him about the movie.
Congratulations to the 2024 Champion, "A Charlie Brown Christmas."
Comfortably cruising to a win, the overall # 5 seed showed its mettle and staying power defeating Jingle All the Way, Elf in a battle to the wire Elite 8 contest, Christmas Vacation with two powerhouses facing each other, before a surprisingly comfortable win over the tournaments overall # 1 seed Home Alone.
Thanks for playing this year, everyone. Next year we will have an expanded field and begin earlier. I have accumulated well over 32 movies from suggestions from the group already and we may expand to a full 64-team field next year!
I say next year have an open nomination, then vote on the list with the top 16 going to the playoffs
