First 8U softball tournament this weekend. No clue how good or bad we will be. Somewhere in the middle will make me very happy.

Not bad for our first ever tournament. I'd like to have that last game back. Win that one and we are in the finals. We would not have beaten the winner, but making the finals would have been awesome.
That is a strong for the first tournament. Is your team the Bowling Green Bandits? It was either them or the O'boro or L'ville team from the listing I saw for 8U teams in tournament play this weekend.

Talent wise, we were not as far off as I expected. We were less consistent than the teams that have been playing a while. Plus, the learning curve of travel ball vs rec league. But I feel better now than I did two weeks ago.Quote:

I'll be the fat guy in the yellow shirt coaching first. The lady is the head coach. The other fat guy is the husband. Emily will likely play pitcher and lead off. She will be one of the shortest on the field. Ally, my 6 year old might pinch run or get in if the game is out of hand.
Edit: This is the USFL state, so I'm sure the other teams are some of the better 8U teams. While this is our 2nd tournament.

I enjoy watching that age group play ball. Only a few of them understand what is going on unless they are the batter or the catcher, and if one is not a family member fan, then it is easy to laugh at some of the silly stuff they do. My grand daughter played from Tball thru coach pitch, and when it got a little more serious she bailed out.
