If you get within 35 miles of Chicago, you are guaranteed to receive one of those but they are not nearly so polite. I used to drive to Minneapolis and I would go thru Rockford to get to I94. I learned to skirt Rockford and take a couple of 2ndary roads going north to avoid the tool road traps. Somehow they managed to identify my license number and would send me a bill pretending i had driven on one of the green roads. If you do not plan ahead, and get within that 35 mile do not enter zone, you will be buzzing along on a non toll road and then find out it turns into a toll road. They do not have 1 toll booth with a live body on it and 5 others and all the 5 others only take cash. That forced me to just drive thru on my first trip north and I received that little bill in the mail.
Well, yours might be real.
Mine, obviously, was the very common scam that goes around. I thought the last line was hysterical.

Came across a pension file that includes a couple of letters a distant ancestor had sent home before he died during the Civil War. It’s absolutely fascinating, especially when he wishes his father would “rite” him more letters as he “hant” received many. He wanted to “no” how his family back home in Breathitt County was doing.
Some of it is hard to read and figure out but this is the only such information I’ve found from any ancestors, so I’m loving this, despite the challenge.
Gonna take a little drive early Wednesday morning…should end up at the Gulf of America, if all goes well.
