You can feel the entire community starting to collectively pucker up…there is a storm a brewing.

Stay safe, guys.
It’s interesting how the weather channel’s forecast is so different from accuweather’s. TWC is still calling for 5-8” during the day Sunday then another 1” of mix Sunday night, and 1-3” more on Monday. Accuweather just says 1-3 total for both days. I guess they’re expecting it to be all ice instead of snow. I’d prefer snow.
I take it Cincinnati is pretty much the same forecast?
We are right where the blue meets the purple, 20 minutes south of Alexandria on this map

Yech. Thanks.
Here's the forecast for my brother. Check out tomorrow's temperature range...
Looks like possible dangerous weather too. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9338c0e770.jpg
5” so far on the patio table. Very fluffy stuff.

Flounder, are those Purple Martin houses? Or just general non-discriminatory, fair housing bird houses? ;)
They were intended as Purple Martin houses, but other small birds use them too
3-4 inches of more snow is forecast for tomorrow, starting late morning through out the evening.

kinda OT, but if anyone has a 4-wheel drive lives within hundred or so miles come drive up and down my hillside drive 3
or 4 times, I think i can make it up my driveway,:thinking2: after that. I have a broken wrist, plus I don't think God designed any two people spend 24/7 or more than that together. Thank you up front Wildcat friend.
12 miles west of Owensboro,(West Louisville area). Also I have a steep 250' hillside asphalt driveway. Got more snow today , I'm thinking about getting my 4 wd tractor out, all of the leavers for the bucket are on the right side (left wrist is the one broken). Maybe win both last posts and you came to help to try help and we got all spiffy. And travelled down then travelled up. Seems team that work together would win the tie-breaker...Need a judgement on this please too. Would I get a better shot this if I said West Louisville?
I can barely get out of my own driveway and it’s maybe 75’ lol.
Got my driveway cleaned...all you guys with 4 wheel drive trucks, stand by and stay ready
I really like the Accuweather app for my phone. I just use the free version, but with the crazy weather in the deep South, I thought I'd mention it again.
I have it programmed for my "favorites" -- it will hold up to 10 -- and include my neighborhood (which is different from Birmingham, or any nearby city), New Orleans (family there), West Monroe, LA (family there), Cincinnati (family there), Oxford, MS (family there), Cincinnati (family there), Osaka, Japan (family there), and Lexington, and have 3 spaces left over if I want to change out "favorites" from time to time.
It also automatically gives you the one where you are located currently through the phone's GPS, which is a cool feature.
I prefer the Weather Channel. I find it to be more accurate. One of my brothers prefers Accuweather but it’s full of Penn State grads and he lives in the Lehigh Valley.
Does the Weather Channel have an app that allows you to have instant access to that many cities? I'd be happy to look at anything else. Accuweather is certainly accurate enough for my needs, though.
Which brings me to something completely unrelated. I had something trigger me this morning about something that happened to me in the 9th grade, freshman class. I moved in the first quarter of the year from Mobile, Alabama to Monroe, Louisiana. The freshman basketball tryouts had just concluded. I went to the P.E. teacher, who was also the head coach, and asked him if I could try out for the basketball team.
He told me that I could, but that he only had 12 uniforms, and had already selected 12 players, so there was no room for me. I think he was afraid to say I couldn't try out, but he clearly told me I couldn't make the team. I wish I had pushed him on the issue, but I wasn't very assertive in those days.
So I stuck in the "regular" P.E. class.
Before the season began, he arranged an after-school scrimmage game between non-basketball team players (other guys in the P.E. class, and his basketball team.) I played on the "P.E. team."
We lost the game, 26-25. I remember the game well. I scored 25 points in the game.
I wasn't great, but I was a good shooter and they didn't guard very well from mid-range. Back in those days, a mid-range shot was a good shot. It sucks today, but back then it was a good shot.
Oh -- the P.E. teacher gave me a B for the class. I was not the valedictorian or salutatorian of my high school class, but I would have been if I had made an A in 9th grade P.E. I made A's in every other class except one.
Anyway, I switched to golf after that and played for my high school team.
OK, now I can get back to work now that is off my chest.
Wow that’s horrible. It seems like an administrator would have looked into why he gave you a B if that was the only one.
It sounds like the weather apps are very similar. I just got up to 12 locations on TWC app and it was still allowing me to add more. One thing that does bug me about it but it’s very minor…I have a sister in Lexington KY and a brother in Lexington NC and they’re both listed as just Lexington.
Take a look at this. It is the national weather service weather info. It is 3 separate website with 3 different links to the radar, the 7 day weather forecast and the national hurricane service website which gives forecasts and satellite images for the Atlantic, the gulf, the caibbean, and the east pacific. and all of them have live motion satellite images. This is the only weather info internet sites that I use, and the weather radar and the forecast pages can all be dialed in to every weather station in the USA. Need a forecast for Lexington, just type that in or Birmingham, type that in. Works great for me,
Sorry, thjs is on my desk top and you wanted something for a phone. I hate pretending my phone is a computer. I do not know how those sites will work on a phone

Different day, different time. He gave everybody B's that weren't on a "varsity" team (I use the term loosely -- in Louisiana, 9th grade freshman teams were varsity, as we didn't move up to "high school" until 10th grade--although the grades counted for high school graduation and award purposes.) We didn't have golf then, and I didn't play football, and had no interest in track and field, so I was just a lowly P.E. boy.
I frankly got over that a lot quicker than I did not being able to try out for basketball. I was a short kid, not terribly fast, not terribly athletic, so it meant more to me. The other was just grades. I always made A's, so that didn't bother me until later. Funny how the thing that should have meant more was mostly irrelevant to me, and the thing that was mostly irrelevant meant a lot to me.
If you have sometime to kill, listen to this (its audio only.)

Oh, cool. I'm running today, but tomorrow I will likely walk, and will listen to it when I walk. Thanks, Flounder--looking forward to listening to it.
I couldn't wait. My wife is sick, so while I ran to the store and picked up her medicine, and "cooked" for her by picking up at a restaurant, I listened to the podcast. Very well done... But two Nimrods lol?
Also want to see you packing that book doing your best Croc Dundee impression. That I'd pay to see.
Good stories, love the pace of that podcast. I don't know if I'm getting old or what, but too many podcasts try to rush everything. This was just a pleasant pace, like you were chatting with friends, telling each other stories.
Thanks for the recommendation, and again, very well done, congrats. Loved hearing about the process, the encouragement to others, and the stories you wove in and out of the podcast.
Thank You .
I enjoyed doing it, but every time I try to listen to it, I simply can’t. My voice is so cringe-worthy, but I guess everybody says that.
I hope others get a chance to enjoy it. You should do more. I like the little stories, and I am not a Civil War buff at all. Also enjoyed hearing some Louisiana connections in it, which I did not expect.
2-3” of snow coming tomorrow early morning; probably more in Lexington. I’m going to try to get stuck in the driveway and listen to your podcast Flounder.
Good thing I don’t eat a lot of bread.

Or eggs. Stores are having to limit how many eggs people can buy. Who hoards eggs?? It’s not like toilet paper; they don’t keep forever. What is it about people that when they hear egg shortage makes them want to run out and buy MORE eggs than they usually would in a year! So strange.
You’re eggs-actly right!
Really coming down at the Bullitt/Jefferson line right now, but thankfully while my truck and the ground are covered, the roads remain wet.
Drive in to work was a piece of cake, if you utilize some not so common sense.
Stay safe brothers and sisters.
Raindrops are falling on my head, but the wintertime precip is falling to my north and it appears it will stay that way. No slipping and sliding around here. but making good decisions and avoiding the ponded water in the family car will will make for a happy trip.
