Baseball cards, just enjoy them.
Working on a 53 Topps set.
Re: Do you collect anything?
That’s great. Year I was born.
The 1950s/60s were when it was a game.
I have a set of drink glasses, no doubt from cereal box coupons or something, of that era NL team logos. The Brooklyn Trolley dodging bum and the Braves’ howling Indian contrast with Chicago’s cute little bear cub
Re: Do you collect anything?
I guess the closest I have to any collection is a hat collection. For obvious follicly-challenged reasons, my being outdoors requires donning a chapeau of sorts. For a long time I truly collected them, from the Space Coast Manatees minor league club to many UK hats (or caps--I call them all hats), to my son's various soccer teams, to dry-fit ones I wear running, you name it. At one time I probably had well over 100. Might still have, but I've been trying to reduce it recently.
Now, it's a pain to keep up with them. I don't have the room and try to give hats away when kids are over or something, and find they don't want them either :).
I have my "go-to" four dry-fit hats that I wear regularly. Three of them I wear while running, so I usually wear them twice a week each. The other is a UK hat and I keep it in my car as a spare in case I forget, or just want to wear something UK that's out.
Have a St. Louis Cardinals cap that's bright red, of course, and during baseball season I'll wear that sometimes. I don't like wearing it very much because I sweat--a lot--and don't want to get it stained. Found hat liners work pretty well, though, and pro tip, even "feminine products" designed for something else work great and are a lot cheaper.
I have multiple hats from when I coached various teams. Never wear them anymore; they're just momentos, I guess, from a time gone by. Haven't had the heart to throw them out.
Have a trip that we're sorta planning on making next year. If we make that trip, I expect to acquire several more from foreign sports teams-baseball and soccer for sure. I probably should just get t-shirts, though, and that might be what I do instead--unless they're dry-fit (I'm using the generic term, just polyester type blend that I can rinse under the sink after sweating and it doesn't stain.)
Minor league baseball hats are a weakness of mine. Birmingham Barons, of course, Space Coast Manatees, Pensacola Blue Wahoos, and Durham Bulls, among others. At some point I may pick up a Montgomery Biscuits and a Biloxi Shuckers hat, even though I am trying to refrain lol.
That's as close as I get to a collection, I suppose. Growing up, I had a baseball card collection, and collected coins, but nothing valuable. No idea what happened to either.
Re: Do you collect anything?
I don't really collect anything except for junk and stuff that holds memories for me...derby glasses, fossils and arrowheads my Dad gave me, bobbleheads from baseball games I took my son to and so on. If I have a complete set of anything it's only by happenstance. My Dad had a substantial pocketknife collection but he grew up in the days of 'horsetrading' on the courthouse lawn. I guess I didn't get that gene lol.
Re: Do you collect anything?
The wife and I have a magnet collection. We collect a single magnet from every country/major location that we visit.

Cell phones….either my work units or my personal ones. The oldest one I have is a Nokia that was on BellSouth in the 1990s. I have blackberry’s, Nextel walkie talkie phones. First iphone I bought was an iPhone 3, and the latest retired iPhone I have is an iPhone X
Re: Do you collect anything?
I sell every kind of collectible in the world, which means I really dont' have much taste for it myself. Its like how cops don't usually go home from work and watch cop shows.
Re: Do you collect anything?
Bourbon, Guitars and wives
Have 11 of one, 60 of another and 1 of the third

I have some coins, mostly that I collected as a child or young man, and a lot of miscellaneous handed down from my Grandfather who collected because he had vending machine routes.
But I don’t know why I don’t try and sell it.
Mostly my answer is “dust, rust and must”.
You need to check some of those older ones, especially the solid silver ones.
Also, make sure some are not much more than face value.
I have some silver quarters and half dollars from when she was a Sears Sales clerk
Re: Do you collect anything?
Wife collects bells from places we visit in Europe.
Shealso does DVC Magnets and Disney Ears...meaning no value
Re: Do you collect anything?
Virginia Cat many are priced by Walter, my Grandfather. I have a coin from 1842 wrapped by him.
I do like particular coins. Mercury dimes in musty old coin collecting books that I collected as a child—from Lincoln Savings and Loan in Louisville KY. Peace dollars new or old, and Eisenhower dollars with the Eagle landing on the moon. If truth be told I like every giant one dollar coin. Precious metal or not.
Not everything is about silver and gold. I have a Marine dollar, proof but not precious metal. It is glorious. I have a 5 ounce brass medal of the USS Constellation, which I think is a ship older than the USS Constitution, dated on its 200 year commissioning anniversary . I have a sundae jar full of “golden dollars” that are worth $1 but look impressive in a big glass jar.
And you are right; I should take the long winter to honor his work and get organized and valued.
And even if all those pre-64 silver coins are just face value , and they won’t be, I weighed it out at a little over 45 pounds. They are generally .75 silver. And maybe they’d be spendable if a 36 trillion debt blows up paper money.

I watch people sell off collectible coins for weight all the time. Big mistake. The local pawn shop guys aren't known for their complete honesty about values.
Re: Do you collect anything?
I had a good gun collection at one time, but after a rash of breakins in the neighborhood, I decided to sell all of them except some keepsakes from family and the ones I used for hunting and defense!

Get a bigger safe and a bigger dog. :)
Re: Do you collect anything?
Lol, the way things are now, the dog would bite the thief and I'd have to sell everything I have to try to stay out od prison and it probably still wouldn't help!
Re: Do you collect anything?
Shot glasses from around the world. And.......debt.
