  • Dupree staying at DE, at least most of the time

Bud Dupree was a preseason all-Southeastern Conference selection at defensive end, the spot he moved to this season after playing linebacker most of his first two years at Kentucky.

On his weekly radio show Monday night, UK coach Mark Stoops revealed he was thinking of moving Dupree back to linebacker because of UK’s lackadaisical play in the opening game loss to Western Kentucky.

Tuesday after practice, Stoops said that move was not coming since UK had moved TraVaughn Paschal from end to linebacker for Saturday’s game against Miami (Ohio)/

“We need Bud at end. He’s playing very well and has the ability to play well and play much better even than he did. He’s a good player and talented player. We all are looking to get better, like I said,” said Stoops.

Kentucky defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot said Dupree could play linebacker in some 3-4 packages UK will use.

“He’s an outside backer in our 3-4 packages. So we may call those schemes more often or we may not, but we definitely have that package, and he is an outside linebacker in that package,” Eliot said.

Bud just doesn't seem to fire.
He has the tools just doesn't seem to have the football instinks.
