These are getting difficult to write. The Cats drop another game after yet another uninspired performance against a bad Georgia team by 10. This game ended the Cats chances at an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament without winning the SEC tournament. With that, let’s get to the grades:
*Pride
This team has struggled to sustain effort all year and tonight was no exception. The Cats were outplayed by a team that simply wanted the win more. The finish to the game was indicative of the season as a whole when Goodwin fouled with 12 seconds left with the game over just so he could leave the game and foul out. This type of effort has been common-place this year and it sums up the season for these young Cats.
Grade: F
*Poythress Style
Poythress fouled out of the game tonight for the second straight game after scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds. It is hard to figure out what is going on with him as he only took three shots and just continues to rack up the foul totals. He only played 19 minutes.
Grade: F
*Value the ball
The Cats were able to manage to hang on to the ball tonight only committing 10 turnovers. I asked for less than 12 so they were able to meet the threshold that I set but it didn’t appear to mean much as the Cats only were able to shoot 37% from the field.
Grade: B+
I hate to be short but there isn’t much left to say about the performance tonight other than what was written. It was a terrible performance against a very bad team and summed up the season to this point. The Cats can still make the NCAA Tournament, but now the road must include an SEC Tournament championship in order to get there.
