Taking the Top off

We often refer to taking the top off. In football vernacular we think in terms of the speed to beat their man deep. As for as quarterback Devin Leary’s passing capabilities, he has the arm to get it deep and we are sure Liam Coen will utilize that ability.

As accurate as he is known to be, we know he is not going to throw every pass perfectly. So, as we talk about winning the one on one, better known as the 50/50 balls. So, for maximum success the ball has to turn into 95/5 balls, especially in the red zone.

Who are the receivers that are best able to do what is known as high point the ball. “My main man Dane Key,” starting cornerback Maxwell Hairston said. “We’ve seen it multiple times. Dane Key is going to get. Going back to the Ole Miss game. Going back to Florida. Dane or Barion (Brown). Barion you can rely on speed that Key will have opened up and he will take it off the top of your head.

In a word, taking the top off is going to be a big part of this offense. As we are writing this article, 4-star Belle Grade, Florida receiver Hardley Gilmore has committed to Kentucky. He has offers from all the big boys – Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Texas A&M, Penn State, and Michigan. He received the Kentucky offer in May and took official visits to the University of Central Florida and Penn State.
