  • Wildcats Looking to Knock Down Another Do at Ole Miss

    By: LONNY DEMAREE

    • The Kentucky Wildcats are gaining a lot of recognition from national sources. They are not in the mood to spoil the progress the program is making.

    • ESPN has put together a documentary on the exploits of Mark Stoops focusing on the way he has built the Wildcats to this point. Looking forward to what could be a horizon in the event of a victory in Oxford, Mississippi.

    • For the eternal optimist there are some reasons as to believe the Wildcats could pull it off – 1) The time slot of the game 11:00 before many of the Ole Miss fans reach their seats recovering from their Homecoming party’s; The thus for, questionable schedule the Rebels have played; The return of Chris Rodriquez to the UK team with a fresh set of legs, and some of Ole Miss’ running back legs being nicked-up’

    • Rodriquez has been caged up feeding on dog biscuits and puppy chow. Now he’s ready for some red meat. Rich Scangarello had high praise for proficiency of the back and that he will play in the NFL. “He is not taken down on first contact, big and sturdy, and very hard working on and off the field,” Scangarello said.

    • The SEC’s leading per/carry average in 2021. Should make a difference in the offensive line play and with a full boat of running back could show a lot of flexibility in their offense.

    • Kentucky shows an all-time losing record of 28-24-1 against the Rebels. They had an 8 game losing streak from 1956 to 63’ and 6-8 since 2000. Giving those numbers UK has a lot making up to do.

    • Center Eli Cox said having Rodriquez back is big having a full room of running backs should be a big help. He said – “I think the group is jelling having the same five together for two weeks and two games.

    • Jordan Dingle said they want to prove they are dynamic in that they can not only block but catch, also.

    • Side Bar: Where is the missing number (8) on the field?? This number belongs to tight end Izayah Cummings and on defense Octavious Oxendine. In the case of Cummings, there may be some unanswered questions. He proved last season he could stretch the field as a tough match up for linebackers. In pure speculation, maybe it’s his blocking or perhaps he has gotten caught in a loaded tight-end room… - Before the injury last season Oxendine looked like a terror to be reckoned with. Now with the loss of weight he looks to have loss the edge. This season he is around the ball but not the first there

Yep. Going 2-0, with two road wins, is a great start in conference play.
