  • The UK Offense taking on a Pro Influence

    By: LONNY DEMAREE

Rich Scangarello not exactly happy with todays practice "But as long as we take care of the football we can correct the other things," he said. He said the ball was on the turf a couple of times and also a couple interceptions.

But is is nice to see the NFL chess match going on beweeen two NFL minds, that being Scangarello and defensive coordinator Brad White. One insider convey to me how great of a teacher White is.

"We are putting in new packages everyday to see the versatility of players and what they can handle," Scangarello said. "And we are doing it against a good defense that is well coached. They are throwing a of things at you, schemes that are necessaryily meant for what they are doing. Guys like Dingle (Jordan) and other versatile guys, you are just trying to put them in position just to see what they can do and whether they can handle it.

On the question on what Sacngarillo likes about the use of a fulback in his offense, he commented on the question, "In the NFL it has an entirely different meaning because you are just trying force team into base defense and simplify things. The exciting thing about college football is not a lot of people face it and they don't understand on how you can fit the run and the football and spreads the fields and creatre matchups in space. That's the goal oof the defense and we have a lot of really good tight ends."

Mark Stoops appears to have done a masterful job in putting his staff together. Time will shore up that philosophy as you go through the season.

Scangarello said he loves the Brad White defense. "Not everyone can understand it and not everyone can teach it. He has Anwar Stewart teaching his defensive line. Stewart played and coached the Montreal Alouettes for eight years and spent a short stint with the Calgary Stampeders. Again their's that Pro influence.

Coach Zach Yenser Also from the San Francisco 49ers is the offensive coach and is superbly aware in what the the offense needs to do with that senergy. Yenser is from the John Schlarman coaching tree. Starting right tackle Jeremy Flax said not a day goes by they don't practice a tribute Schlarman's father of the Big Blue Wall. Flax said he weighs 330-pounds, down from 355 last season and he said he wants to get down to 315. He said he want to learn the playbook so thoroughly that tghe can call the plays.

So purusing the coaching staff the Professional inFluence is everywhere.

Appreciate the report and the general positive vibe and synergy. If we can build on some of the pro-style changes Coen implemented with the offense I think that bodes well for Levis and general continuity.
