  • Kentucky Falls to the Mississippi State Bulldogs 31-10

At the half, the Wildcats are getting beat every in every phase of the game. It's obvious Mark Stoops had to make some adjustments in the locker room because the Dogs had the ball coming out of the locker room. Whatever the halftime changes were, they had a minimal effect on the game. Stoops said his team got whipped in every phase for the remainder of the game.

The Cats couldn't have asked for a better development when Josh Ali came off an injury that kept him off the field for two games. He had a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown. And off a drive that fizzled, Kentucky was able to finish a drive-by kicking a 41 for a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. From that point, the Bulldogs owned the second quarter for a 14-10 halftime.

It's never good when in Kentucky's case, your punter is the MVP of the game (brings back the memory of Steve Spurrier).
Colin Goodfellow had three punts for 161-yards, a 53.7 average.

It was good to see the return of Izayah Cummings to the field. The raises the question of the lack of use of the tight ends to move the chains. This raises the question of the lack of use of the tight ends when the 12-personnel was to be a focus in the offense. Cummings had one catch for 5-yards and Justin Rigg had a catch for 4-yards.

In light of the last two game failures, it would hold that perhaps, the Big Blue Wall is in question. We don't yet know the severity of left tackle Dare Rosenthal's injury. My theory of "the next man up" might take a serious hit. If Rosenthal is out for the Tennessee game at Kroger Field it is going to be interesting in the juggling to put together a cohesive offensive line unit.

Game planning by the offensive brain-trust is going to be put to task this week in order to get the offense back on track. The Georgia offensive anemia is a legitimate concern, but from the top down, as we write I'm sure there is some serious strategizing taking place.

The Tennesse Volunteers have proven to be taken far more seriously than pre-season projections. We are also to believe they are going to invade Kroger Field with bad intentions in mind.

We are not privy to the practice habits and having the knowledge of the individual performances, but given the late game effectiveness of wide receiver DeMarcus Harris, one has to wonder if Will Levis is concentrating too much on trying to force-feed Wan'Dale Robinson. Could the defensive do more to create turnovers, maybe yes, but they are doing enough to win football games? The UK defense was on the field for 74-plays, the offense could only generate 48 plays.

      Good read Lonny.

Time for some soul searching with the UK staff on both sides of the ball. Stagnant is the word that comes to mind for me.
