I will preface this with 2 comments:
1) Most challenging card of the year. Many grades are based on stats more than usual.
2) I encourage disagreement and discussion
Ashton Hagans A- Missed a triple double by a reb and an assist. Did not see that until I saw the boxscore. As good as he is, he is under rated/underappreciated. 9 assists, 4 turnovers is crazy good.... but 9 rebounds.....seriously is UFB (un.....ing believable)
Keion Brooks C+ Cal needs to have some confidence in him. Second game he has started hot, goes to the bench and disappears. Needs to rebound harder, and that falls on him and him alone. 2 pts needs to be 8 pts.
EJ Montgomery B- In part due to his game was an improvement, and possibly a step in the right direction. Had a key block and solid defense to go with 5 rebs and 8 pts. When you are 4 of 6 you need to take more shots
Immanuel Quickley A Snapped AL back with a trey. Games leading scorer, 5 of 6 from long range, 19 pts. I admit that I am bias but he is my favorite on the team and my grades show it. No pbm admitting it
Nick Richards A- As Nick goes, UK goes. Is THE most important player on the team. 13 pts, 11 bds and 5 ( as in FIVE) blocks. He is the type of player UK and Cal need to give props to. A one and done is fine but pay attention to how Nick has gone from soso player to one of the top players in the country. Kid decided to come back and will benefit by several millions of dollars because of it. THAT is what should be the recruiting emphasis
Nate Sestina B+ Huge treys for 'Tina but as the game went on some soft rebounds and poor treys. Still, boost off the bench was huge
Tyrese Maxey B 13 pts is big but some questionable decisions. Four turnover does not cut it.if they ar bad turnovers
Kahlil Whitney C benefit of the doubt grade.Looked to.play good defense when in.
Johnny Juzang IC dnp
Coaching A- Plan was to stop the trey. We did
Officials B An acceptable job
Commentators IC only haf spotty commentary so will leave that to others
