  • Kentucky's Much Needed Win

The patriotic display at the start of the game was something to behold. The Cats fans are hardcore when observing the fan participants at Vanderbilt Stadium. Kentucky won the toss to start the game.

Kentucky started fast then AJ Rose fumbled the ball in the air and was picked off for a 67 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Kentucky then took control of the line of scrimmage and held a 319-84 total yardage advantage at the half.

The Cats went into the locker room at the half leading in the game 24-14 after falling behind 14-3.

in the first half, again Lynn Bowden is in control of the UK offense with 5 for seven passing and 40-yards. He has had plenty of support from his running back cohorts - A J Rose 10-67; Kavosiey Smoke 20-76;and Chris Rodriquez 7-57.

There was a point in the second quarter when Mark Stoops lost his mind running down the sideline contesting the call when Logan Stenberg was called for unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

UK winning the toss to start the game and deferring has paid off when they came out of the locker room after the half and scored to take total control of the game 31-14.

At the end of the third quarter freshman J.J. Weaver made a very impressive play for a one gain on second and 10. He's a long Jack-linebacker that can be counted on make several such plays in his career at UK.

These are the type of games that are fun for the winners and builds confidence.

Sawyer Smith came into the game at the 12:52 mark of the fourth quarter and converted a couple first downs and his drive stalled out on a fourth down attempt. Vandy took over the ball at their 29 yard line.

The UK fans got charged up to help the Cat keep the commodores out of the end zone. Jamin Davis made a touchdown saving tackle for no gain on the UK five yard line causing Vandy to have to turn the ball over.

"I'm proud of our team to bounce back," A happy Stoops said. "Sometimes those things can linger. I'm proud of the coaches. They fought hard once again and we've been doing that all year." He said Vandy got a strip fumble but we fought back. UK flipped the script this week getting behind 14-3 as opposed to being ahead of Tennessee 13-3 last week. Stoops said they are a methodical and coming back a never flinching that the way they operate when they are at their best.

Stoops said he was proud of some of the runs his running backs made when Smoke made some people miss and some of the tough runs Rodriquez made.

Mark Stoops said you get tired of talking about the amazing Lynn Bowden and "you guys probably get tired of writing about it but you really have to give it to him" the coach said. Boden remarkable in the big picture. Rodriquez led all rushers today with 129 yards in 15 carries.

Rose got only 4 carries today perhaps because of the early strip fumble that was taken back for a touchdown. Stoops said he will be alright and will be back out there starting next week. "We have confidence in him," Stoops assured.

Bowden was 8 of 10 for 104 yards.
