As the old saying goes, "quarterbacks were born to transfer." I never like to see a kid leave, though.
Attrition is a normal part of any football team. This is part of the reason why it is imperative to consistently land top 20-30 recruiting classes, year after year. You need as close to 85 legitimate, high level SEC players on your roster as possible in order to compete due to attrition (transfers or otherwise), injuries, players not panning out, whatever.
Kentucky needs two top level quarterbacks to remain on the team. In plenty of situations, a third string quarterback will be the guy by mid to late season due to injuries or whatever. But you absolutely require two. Just have to have them. So I hope Gunnar sticks.
I have to believe Gunnar is right behind Clark. Especially given his Dad's tweets during the year. Guess we're down to Walker as the backup next year. Neither freshman will be ready.
Guess we will have this same conversation like we did with Johnson for the two years he started at UK and played so well, with that I mean some trying to replace him constantly and kicking him constantly.
Gunnar will graduate in the Spring, so he could transfer then and play at once having 2 to play. He was recruited to play the Air Raid style where accuracy on short to medium passes were most important. Like Clark he was a 4 star so hope he stays but wouldn't blame if he leaves
