  • To Win the Louisville Cardinal Need Something Special to Happen

It’s not necessary to breakdown the Cardinals because they are a team that’s given fifty or more points six time this season. For the heavy underdogs Cardinals to pull off a stunning upset they will have to be special with their specialist on special teams.

What lots of fans most often overlook is the special teams that are one third of the total game. Aside from that very important piece, the only place the cardinal can make some noise is in the air. The Cardinals have some play making receivers when they can get the ball to them. For the Cats to stop that or severely limit that facet of their game, they have to stop the quarterback from getting the time to throw the ball.

One important facet is a one sided stat sheet in the turnover comparison. U of L’s comparison look s like this – 25 to 11 their opponents favor compared to UK – 16 to 18 the Wildcats favor. So that picture dictates that Josh Allen and company need to keep that trend to same as it presently is.

As previously alluded to, for the Cards to make the rivalry what it’s billed to be they have to have a big advantage in the special teams department. Field goal kicker Blanton Creque is accurate and has range and by comparison he dwarfs the Cats field goal capabilities. The return game is very solid – the kick return specialist is led by freshman Haasan Hall and the punt return specialist is sophomore Rodjay Burns. Both of these players have been effective in the return game.

The Louisville Cardinals going to need to have an uplift to maintain a respectable program in the ACC.

This was the year to catch up with the Seminoles when they are obviously not up to their usual standard. According to my Cardinal sources they feel like this was the game they threw in the towel on the season, when they had every chance to win and didn’t. When you peruse their roster the talent level for exceeds their season results.

They obviously recognized that as fact because that’s the game that they subsequently quit and they would like today’s game to be the last hurrah or one for the gipper --- this being a rivalry game, Cats beware. The Cats haven’t often beat the spread this season. My score UK 31; U of L 14.

Physically, the Cats obviously looked like grown men against middle school kids. Not just the play but sheer size and strength. The difference on the line was striking while the backs and such were just frail compared to our guys.
A fairly quick team but not physically imposing at all.
