LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the third time this season, a Kentucky volleyball player has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week after sophomore setter Madison Lilley picked up the weekly award – along with setter of the week honors – for her elite-level play during week seven in home victories over Tennessee and Ole Miss. It’s her fourth player of the week honor of her career and 13th setter of the week award.

The Overland Park, Kansas, native notched her fourth week of awards this season after she led both matches in assists and averaged 13.50 assists per set. The sophomore directed the UK offense to 16.86 kills per set and a .352 hitting clip over its two matches.

Her 50 assists in the win over Tennessee, who is receiving votes in the AVCA poll, marked the fourth time she’s reached 50 or higher in a match this season. In addition to posting a career-high six kills against the Volunteers, the setter came up just one dig shy of her sixth double-double and reached a season-best four aces. In the four-setter, Lilley guided the UK offense to a .398 hitting percentage and 64 total kills – the team’s third most in a match this season. Furthermore, four players reached double figures.

Her 45 assists against Ole Miss tied her own top overall mark in the conference in a three-set match and was the third time in the last four matches she’s tallied 45 or more dimes. Lilley currently ranks second overall in the SEC in assists per set at 10.98 and first among conference matches at 11.67.

UK will hit the road for its next three contests beginning with an 7 p.m. ET tilt at LSU on Friday.

Posting about the magnificent play of Lilley seems like piling on, but she makes the play of setter look so effortless, when there are multiples of things going on that she has to keep track of to make the play of her teammates look so good.
