  • The National Championship Winner

Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, and Oklahoma are the participants in the playoffs for the national championship. We think the committee got it right this year because there has been very little for football fans and football analyst to quibble about. I think the seeding is correct. Now let's break it down and give you my winner for the National Championship crown.

Clemson over Alabama: It all starts with the head coach Dabo Swinney that has done an impressive job of building the Clemson program. He took over Clemson in mid-season 2008 replacing Tommy Bowden. At the 2009 Music City Bold's joint press conference with the head coaches Swinney and Jerry Claiborne it was easily detectable that Swinney was a dynamic up and comer. Their quarterback Kelly Bryant in a slightly different way that Deshaun Watson is a winner. He's got a dynamic receiver in Hunter Renfrow to throw to. I think Swinney will best Nick Saban again. Alabama this season is not automatic in the red zone. Alabama's starting quarterback Jalen Hurt though productive he is not one I want in the red zone when he has to throw to make the crucial play.

Georgia over Oklahoma: Georgia Head Coach Kirby smart is making his mark as a head coach where he trained under Nick Saban. The Bulldog are a veteran team having a squad that numbers thirty-one seniors many who are in the two deep depth chart. Though little style changes come down the road periodically, it's still running the ball and stopping the run. For Georgia toting the pigskin is a Nick Chubb and Sony Michel and they continuously push the ball at you on the ground. Quarterback Jake Fromm has proven himself to be something other than just a game manager. He is effective throwing the football with accuracy. The Bulldog's front seven on defense is very hard to run against. In Baker Mayfield Oklahoma has the Heisman Trophy winner that is very dynamic as a winner and has an effective running game. But we see the big twelve as more of a quarterback league that scores a lot of points and not quite as strong of a defensive league as the SEC.

For all the aforementioned reasons my National Champion will be the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

Barrett Sallee has been predicting that for awhile (in fact, he picked UGA to win the national title before the season began).

Has had an unbelievably good analysis of the season. He's even 63% against the spread for the year, which is outstanding.

Thanks, Harlow--I corrected it to 22. No idea, of course, and watch 18 be the right answer lol. Anyway, I appreciate the heads up.
