  • The Wildcats to Crack the Glass Ceiling on the way to 9-3

    By: LONNY DEMAREE

At Southern Miss: Kentucky avoids a melt down and come away from Hattiesburg with the best Catfish in the world. They have 1.440 yard rusher Ito Smith back. His backup George Payne got injured and burner Tez Parks stepped for him. Kentucky 34, Southern Miss 17.
Eastern Kentucky: EKU’s talent can’t match up to the Cats and former Eastern Kentucky head coach Dean Hood remembers when. Kentucky 48, EKU 13.
At South Carolina: If the Wildcats come away from Columbia with a win they could be in for a special season. The Gamecocks can’t see themselves losing to Kentucky a fourth straight time. Kentucky 28, South Carolina 21.
Florida: For a program with the tradition of the Gators it’s odd that they have trouble having stability at the quarterback position. “Everything must change” is a song I sing recorded by Quincy Jones. Check out the lyrics. The Cats finally break the dubious, embarrassing string of Florida defeats. It would have been nice if the present 10 player suspensions came before the UK game. Kentucky 20, Florida 13.
Eastern Michigan: This three-game 2 for 1 series was signed because UK wants to journey there recruiting deep into the state of Michigan. Kentucky 52, Eastern Michigan 7.
Missouri: In Drew Lock the Tiger have one of the better throwing quarterbacks in the SEC but those big tall receivers aren’t there. Neither are those pass rushing defensive ends they have been noted for. Kentucky 40, Missouri 21.
Mississippi State: Coach Dan Mullen has carved out a name for himself in the SEC and his teams are highly competitive. Nick Fitzgerald is arguably the best quarterback in the league and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in New York on Heisman night. Kentucky 17, Mississippi State 21.
Tennessee: Head Coach Butch Jones is on the hot seat and Kentucky help him stand up so it will cool off as they are ushering out of his office. Clichés will no longer get it in volunteer country where the only thing that counts is W’s. Kentucky 48, Tennessee 28.
Ole Miss: This is the replacement for Alabama in the Western Division of the SEC. Seems like a reasonably could swap with a team with a new coach. The Rebels are not without some left over scoring power which could make for a shootout. Kentucky 42, Ole Miss 38.
At Vanderbilt: Because the teams and fan-bases both peruse the schedule and when they get to THE game they mark that as a win. Consequently that is always a hard fought contest. The Commodores have fast improving quarterback Kyle Shurmur and one the most underrated running backs in the SEC Ralph Webb and their defense will be tough. Kentucky 20, Vanderbilt 24.
At Georgia: The Bulldogs are the only team that have more returning starters (18) than Kentucky. They are the consensus pick to win the SEC east. It is tough to win on the road in the SEC and especially down between the hedges. Georgia 38, Kentucky 17.
Louisville: The Governor’s Cup is the coveted reward for this win for either team. Kentucky wants to keep the Cup in Lexington. And they will do so starting a string of keeps. Kentucky 28, Louisville 16.

I love the optimism. The team will have to step up to get there, and I really hope they can, as it portends even better things for the future.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Lonny.
