They're now singing Sweet Caroline a capela at 12:40am. Pretty cool.
Great support all weekend for this team. I was shocked people in town even knew about it but I've heard a lot of talk.
There's support among the BBN for anything UK that does well, but I think that's esp. true for baseball. it's in the group with basketball and football as a sport and the fans will get behind it.
Music started up just before Hjelle was ready to pitch, umpire didn't like it (Sweet Caroline), and called time. Crowd picks it up, sings the chorus as the pitch is made, Hjelle with a nasty curve that he batter misses a mile, and they roar.
Full count now, and this is a 6-pitch at bat with the next at-bat, but most importantly, in danger of walking the leadoff hitter to face the cleanup batter.
Nope, strike 3 on pitch # 18.
Ball grounds to Heady, it's an in-between hop, he throws it poorly, and Evan White can't come up with it--he'll make that play 9 out of 10 times, but not this time, and not his fault, it's an E6.
Folks, EVERYBODY is tired.
Crowd now singing Sweet Caroline every time now.
Ground ball to Mahan, over to Heady, on to White, and it's a 4-6-3 DOUBLE PLAY!!!
I do, too. He's been very effective and doesn't look bad. He doesn't have overpowering stuff, but they're not used to a 6'11 guy with good stuff throwing from that angle (nobody is).
First pitch from the reliever sails way high and it's a walk, moving Becker to 2nd.
Two on, nobody out for Kole Cottam.
Almost hate to see it, but Cottam with a pretty bunt down the third base line, SAC works perfectly as he's thrown out. Gotta do that, I get it, but he has been hitting so well. (No complaints here, I would have done the same).
