  • Williams remained # 1 on Junior QB's list even after decommitment

    By LARRY VAUGHT

Not long after Jarren Williams decommitted from Kentucky, his father said UK remained No. 1 on the Georgia junior quarterback's list despite offers from schools such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia and more.

"We put all the schools on a board based on our criteria," said Anthony Williams. "We give each quality a value whether it is academics, student life, type of offense. We have all the things we deem important to us and then we will see how the schools stack up. We are doing our due diligence now to see how we stand."

Well, that due diligence led to Williams committing to Kentucky again today on both Kentucky Sports Radio and Twitter. He said on Twitter that he was committing to the "new" Kentucky.

The 6-2, 205-pound Williams has been a rising star since committing to UK about a year ago and gives UK a needed boost again with its 2018 recruiting class.

Both recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow and quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw made a recent trip to Georgia to see Williams after he decommitted.

He told KSR that his "heart's always been with Kentucky" and now is going to "shut it all down and come back home" to Kentucky.

Williams passes for 2,618 yards and 26 touchdowns with just two interceptions in 2016 completing 64.4 percent of his passes while also running for 425 yards and nine touchdowns. He just earned an invitation to the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback camp, too.

He will be an early enrollee in January.

Williams said on Twitter that the trust he built with players and coaches and the support from the UK fan base all played a role in his decision.

    Re: Max Godby on Offense

Saw an article that we only had 10 TD passes last year. That's shockingly bad.

If we can get decent QB play and be a legit threat to throw,

    Max Godby on Offense

The old Offensive Lineman thinks we'll have the most balanced offense in years. Thinks our Oline is great and Benny and CJ are studs. Doesn't doubt both

Re: Mark Stoops Distraught Lack of Fo-(Cus) in Scrimmge

I don't, they are much more qualified to make personnel decisions than any of us. I don't think any of them are going to intentionally going to throw

I just hope the best guy (the guy that gives us the best chance) wins the job. Judging by events of the past with this staff, I have some doubts.

Sense Johnson will be missed quite a bit this year and the so called improved passing game will not be there.
