  • What Physically is Going on with the Football Wildcats

    Now that the coaches are back in their offices, what is the preparation schedule and plans to prepare for spring practice that is right around the corner? The job of preparing is especially cumbersome given the new faces on the coaching staff. There being New offensive coordinator and running backs coach Eddie Gran, Co-Offensive Coordinator and wide receivers coach Darin Hinshaw. The coaches offices, the meeting rooms, the main collective meeting auditorium, the weight room, the Coordinators War Room, and Nutter Field house are busy.

    The Daily Organizational Schedule

    * Early morning 6:00 AM workouts: The coaching staff are running groups through these workouts at Nutter Field House Sports Turf consisting of no less than six rotating stations. From the starting time to 10 AM they are running groups through.

    * They then return to the Nutter Practice Facility for weight training. The players alternate daily in which they work on the upper and lower body. One day they work on the lower body - squats, weights lifting consisting calf, hamstrings, quads, gluts, and fascia ligament conditioning.

    * On the alternate day they do upper-body weight training. This consist of - bench press for the pectorals; the back; the biceps; the triceps; the deltoid muscle; lats; the neck; and the power lift for the shoulder and neck muscles.

    * In the quiet of the early morning at the cavernous field-house the sounds of all-out energy is heard. Back at the weight-room the yells of exhortation pushing their teammates to do more can be heard. The strength and conditioning coaches along with the position coaches are pushing for greatness in their strength and conditioning. The strenuous grunts and groans of heavy lifting are heard throughout the weight-room.

    * Next month the various positions will get together for skull sessions. Later in the month drills for each position will start. Then a couple days of spring practice will be conducted. Then spring break and upon return the business of find out who can play, their best position to help the team, and a tenuous depth chart.



    The really ambitious player is doing more on his own
