Apparently the white tail population is killing the hemlock tree population,or at least impeding development of the new trees to replace the old ones, by congregating among them in winter and urinating on them too much, changing the nitrogen levels in the soil.
So is the solution to saving the trees to give out more hunting licenses? Could the NRA in fact be the backbone of a tree hugging environmental initiative? Oh the delicious ironies of it all. Maybe the EPA could cite them in court instead. Are deer considered competent to stand trial?
