This makes me wonder if the desertification of certain areas of the world were caused by a lack of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Green vegetation will cause changes in weather that may affect rainfall and wind patterns in these arid areas in the future.

I see what you did there. :D

We used to argue this cycle of stuff in th 70s, and when people argued desertification we'd argue global warming would expand agriculture by driving back the deserts. Then they argue the milder winters would mean larger insect populations, offsetting the agriculture gains. It's an endless cycle, but the enviro-doomsayers want to label things "bad" and then wipe them out, not deal with them as the big mixed bag of goods and bads and unknowns that it really is on a scientific level.

If I recall correctly, the desertification of the Sahara and Arab regions were a result of a change in the Earth's tilt.

That could certainly be correct, but I was not around then to see it happen.

Hopefull Darrell, Darryl or Mick will chime in and confirm for us.

The models were "wrong"? Perish the thought (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/07/130710141845.htm)

History has shown that in eras with greater warmth plant and animal species, including humans, thrive.

Two years ago that was an old joke... Wait.

While the global warming alarmists want to show only gloom and doom in warming the reality is that more warmth means more water in the water cycle via the release of water from ice.

One fairly strong theory is that the last global warming led us out of the medieval era and into the Renaissance, due to increased farm yields and such that allowed for more than subsistence living, giving us urbanization and the middle class.

Oh, and the polar bears survived that warming as well.
