Win 7 networking

I have 3 win 7 machines and was using homegroup. I became disgusted with it's inconsistency, deleted HG and just set file permissions etc. to share.

I was doing great for a few days and now the my documents on the desktop PC keeps resetting to read only, files are stupid slow to open, etc.

Wireless network. Using an AP for the desktop

Running AVG 13 - keep checking it and firewall settings seem to be ok

Network printer (wireless) is working no issues.

Have reset router several times no help

Help?

BTW, the desktop is 64 bit, laptops are 32 bit

Wish I could help Jeeep but with one Win 7 machine and one Apple OS machine in the house, I never even tried to set up a network.
