Ironic... RT @CainTV: Obama in Mexico, lamenting that guns from U.S. are being used by Mexican criminals http://bit.ly/16zXjdi

Feinstein already had her assault weapons ban proposal written when F&F broke to the public. They were going to use the Mexican issue to push for it, but with Aurora and Newtown they dropped that strategy for a direct push based on these lunatic shootings. With it failing they'll have to go back to the MExican angle, which is to ban assault weapons b/c they are getting into the hands of the Mexican cartels. We know of 2,000 of them for sure, b/c the Administration/ATF/DOJ helped load them in their cars and waved goodbye.

As that article says, if he wants to prosecute people who are running guns to Mexico, he can start with Eric Holder and work down.

Or he could secure the freakin' border, b/c if he thinks the guns in Mexico are causing deaths he should look at what the drugs going across that border are doing to people in his home city. That would solve the gun problem almost completely and lessen the drug problem as well.

He also maintains "most" of those guns come from the US, and that has been proven to be based on bad math and lies, but his lies continue.

FWIW, Mexico doesn't have a 2nd Amendment, has had a complete ban. How's that working out? In fact there is more movement in Mexico to gun liberalization so law abiding people can defend themselves.

While an inordinate number of crime guns in Mexico are ultimately traced to the United States,

No doubt some are, more than we'd all like, but not nearly as many as is cited by the media. When F&F broke and I was looking at the data a lot, the Mexican government had around 300,000 confiscated weapons in their possession. They'd cherry picked just 30,000 to be traced by ATF. I have to look it up but I think it got refined down to even fewer with some other steps. It may have been down in to the 4 digits how many actual traces were performed out of 300,000 confiscated weapons. They're not going to submit the massive number of Mexican military and police weapons that have been obtained by the cartels, so no doubt of those submitted a large percentage will turn out to be US civilians weapons. There was testimony by the DOJ liaison in Mexico City that both sides were cherry picking their traces, only checking guns with a great chance of being US weapons originally.

Of course what Obama doesn't mention is that even the ATF has said those guns are primarily being obtained by straw buyers who are paid by the gun runners to buy guns. NOTHING in anything he's proposing addresses that problem, other than to ban the sale of those weapons altogether of course.
