How do you like to eat them?

Soak em for 15 minutes in saltwater to get the critters out then rinse. Some soak overnight but I think it kills that great nutty flavor. Then I either-A: salt, pepper, and dust with cornmeal then deep fry til golden. Usually just 4-5 mins. Or, B: salt, pepper, and sautée in butter in a cast iron skillet. I don't like a lot of flour/eggs-crackers like some, I wanna taste the mushroom, not the breading.

I went with (A) on Sunday eve, with half a small deer tenderloin, grilled whole with an ice cold Shiner Bock to wash it down. :trink40: Fit for a king I tell ya!

When I first saw this I was thinking great another Rick Pitino thread (morals) and I was going to simply respond "no he has none"

I really love them and the weather was really good today for them to pop thru the leaves. Sadly, all the places I used to hunt are now covered in nice lawns, asphalt and houses. I quit looking for them a few years ago.

Are morels the same as molly moochers?

Molly moochers, dry land fish, hickory chickens, merkels, etc. All the same!

Those little black ones top right in the pic are dang hard to find but mighty tasty. Excellent hunting, enjoy!

You're a braver man than I. I have no idea how to identify them. I can pick greens from a fenceline, but not mushrooms.

Morels are easy CBBN, to identify, not to find :) There are "false morels", which are toxic, but they don't have a hollow stem, and the stem attaches at the top with the cap " hanging" from it. Morels have hollow stems, and attach at the bottom of the cap.
