Coach Calipari will be recognized at the 2013 NCAA Final Four Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast festivities for his dedication to the Barefoot for Barefeet awareness movement.

CHARLOTTE, NC (April 2, 2013) – Samaritan’s Feet announced John Calipari as the winner of their 2013 “Barefoot Coach of the Year”. Calipari will be in Atlanta to accept his award on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast recognizing coaches who have demonstrated character, leadership, courage and compassion.

Coach Calipari lives out the five pillars of being a barefoot coach: Through his barefoot efforts he provided a voice for the voice-less, created awareness for Samaritan’s Feet, raised over $25,000 which provided over 1,600 pairs of shoes to impoverished children, both domestically and internationally. His courageous efforts enhanced the image of coaches, schools, the NCAA, its member schools and its student athletes, while providing multiple opportunities to engage people in a life of service.

“Coach Calipari has been an invaluable Ambassador for Samaritan’s Feet over the years modeling servant leadership to his community and beyond,” said Manny Ohonme, president and founder of Samaritan’s Feet. “It’s my honor to recognize Coach Calipari for his efforts to serve impoverished children of Kentucky and around the world.”

The Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast now stands as one of the premier events during the NCAA Final Four weekend. The 16th annual Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast is hosted by CBS Sports’ Clark Kellogg and TNT’s Ernie Johnson. Each year, more than 1,000 guests attend the event and hear from basketball greats. The Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast recognizes the importance of leadership, character and integrity, and honors heroes in the world of sports.

About Samaritan’s Feet
Samaritan’s Feet is a 501(c)(3), humanitarian aid organization that shares a message of hope and love by distributing new shoes and washing the feet of under-served individuals around the world.

Samaritan’s Feet International was founded in 2003 by Nigerian born Manny Ohonme and his wife Tracie for the purpose of sharing hope with the under-served and hurting people of the world by washing their feet, giving them a new pair of shoes, and empowering them to believe that their dreams can come true.
Samaritan’s Feet shoe distributions are designed to both meet physical needs and inspire young people to believe in the value of life and service. These distributions are the outpouring of the Samaritan’s Feet dedication to changing hearts and lives forever. Our goal is to provide 10 million pairs of shoes in the next 10 years, and since 2003, Samaritan’s Feet and our team of ambassadors have served an estimated 3.5 million individuals in over 60 countries.
