Wow.

OK, so we can talk about Eddie Sutton and how he destroyed Kentucky basketball, or maybe your soup de jour is Tubby Smith for the same. But both left Kentucky, landed on their feet, and enjoyed success at a certain level after leaving the Wildcats.

But not this man.

How much was known about Billy Gillispie before arriving at Kentucky? Some carousing? Some heavy drinking, perhaps? Anything that other successful coaches in basketball, football, and other sports haven't done?

That's the question that plagues UK fans to this day. Why did Kentucky suffer through two years of Billy Gillispie--with word coming out now at Texas Tech of the abuses that must have occurred in Lexington, or worse--and was the vetting that bad?

Or did Kentucky do this to him?

Was it the pressure of the local Kentucky media and fans?

Or perhaps national media putting Billy Gillispie under the microscope?

Or was Billy always Billy? And if that's the case, why didn't we know? Or more specifically, why didn't

He's a mess. I was hoping that getting back to the state of Texas would help him get his life straightened out...I guess not.
