Absolutely 100% the latter. Gretchen Mol is one of the all-time greatest (worst?) wet blanket girlfriends in any sports or gambling movie, hands down. Tuesday Weld and Ann-Margaret...hubba hubba.

Cincinnati Kid is one of those movies that's on TCM every once in a while and I always stop and watch it when it's on. Steve McQueen, Edward G Robinson, Tuesday, Ann-Margaret, a ton of great character actors and a cameo by Cab Calloway...hard to beat it.
