Had to be Doc. Guy could have sued for endangerment and gotten a big check. No one would take the liability of putting someone in that car without signing a stack of waivers and limited liabilities.

The part that was staged with a stunt driver was primarily the warehouse ramp scenes. Gordon talked about it on Speed today. The Camaro was set up for the stunt. The car wasn't even owned by the dealership.
