I worked at First Security and I recall leaving work at lunch and walking a couple of blocks to grab a hotdog but for the life of me cannot remember the name of the place?
Any thoughts???

Sam's Hot Dog Stand, maybe?
(I clerked downtown after school 85-88, FWIW.)

Maybe it was Sam's. We had one of those in Ashland and was thinking the sauce was different but 40 years does a lot to memories...

Garo's. At that time they had 2 locations. one I think is still on Upper, the other, the one you probably went to, is the one I went to, which was on Main east of First Security. Sort of across from what was then Wolfe Wile's.

I'm from there, too (Russell, actually). That place used to be the hot dog capital of the world--Sam's, Stewart's, Dairy Cheer, L&J, Frosty Freeze and Crisp Dairy Treat, just to name a few. I still like to go to Crisp when I get back home.
(I probably know a little too much about WV/KY-style hot dogs.)
