Appearing on a Miami radio station Friday, Pitino was asked if he regretted going to the NBA.

“No. I loved going to the Knicks because we won the Atlantic Division championship. We went from winning 21 games or 19 games to winning 52 games in a short period of time. I loved coaching Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley and all those guys. I think I do regret leaving Kentucky because I took over a team with 15 wins banking everything on the Tim Duncan lottery, and once we didn’t get Tim Duncan I realized that leaving Kentucky was not a good move.”

I'll bet the dirty bird fans aren't too happy with that.

Yeah, but this time he was at least smart enough to frame it in the context of sort of a gamble considering the situation he was heading into. The guy has an uncontrollable ego but he does have enough sense to not open that big ol can of worms up again.

I said it the day he left, and I'll continue to say it in regards to UK....He doesn't coach here anymore, so I don't give a damn what he has to say!!

I don't miss him. He made the choice to leave, so be it. I feel the same way about Tubby. If you don't want to be at Kentucky, then hit the road.
