Where were you on that fateful morning.

I was at work in my office, and I got call from the plant mgr. telling me a plane crashed into a building in NY. We met in a conference room where there was a TV, I walked in right before the second plane crashed into the second tower.

Before the second crash we/everyone was speculating that it was either an accident, or a pilot had a mental break. When the second one hit we were all dumb founded knowing that something evil was in progress.

I was working for my employer at the the time and was on post at Fort Campbell. I was told in no uncertain terms to get my a$$ of the post before it was locked down....with me on it.

I was at home in my home office completing some paperwork before hitting the road. My wife called me and asked if I had the TV on. Said no and to turn it to a news channel. and then she hung up. Like blueboss, I tuned in between crashes, then made some phone calls to cancel the day's appointments and then sat down to stare at the TV and try to comprehend what I was seeing.

I was at work taking a continuing education exam and saw the news when I finished. I had to walk back to my work building and went through the Federal Building in Cincinnati, which may not have been the wisest choice, but that was how the skywalk went.

With my late Father. I remember he was stunned and pretty much in denial that anything was going on. i recall trying to convince him otherwise but yielded and we went to work.
looking back on it I now know he knew just how bad it was, and how bad it was going to be for America. As well as for our business, which was dependent on Fort Knox. That dependency saw the bridge connecting us by Gold Vault Road to Post lined with soldiers and heavy artillery.

Within two years we went from a very successful family business and living comfortably to struggling to pay bills. Eventually we both lost everything.

But that was a very small sacrifice compared to others. In short..never.
