The establishment chose Biden and chose Harris b/c they want to present as a moderate, even "Rockefeller Republican" ticket.

The fact that she's for gun confiscation (they call it "mandatory buy back", like how prison is a "mandatory vacation"), medicare for all, The Green New Deal, decriminalizing illegal entry into the country and other things (those are from this article, it's a much longer list) you aren't supposed to remember now.

I guarantee you, if they win everyone will be reminded of it come January.

So that's the entire campaign, to try to present as the moderate, safe choice instead of Trump. Just don't pay attention to the primaries, or the massive leftist shift in their party.

The establishment leadership is trying hard to silence AOC et al, but they still wont' actually condemn any of what is going on, so pardon me for not trusting them.

For the first time ever, I am scared for this country. I was not when Obama got elected (either time) despite many conservative claiming gloom and doom as I had confidence in the framework of the nation being such that extremes are "checked and balanced". That is no longer the case. And it should be noted I am opposed to the radical right as well. Would never vote for a Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson type candidate, although none would be successful in a GOP primary.

For the first time ever, I am scared for this country.

If the Dems win the Senate and the Presidency there will be political pressure greater than anything we've seen on them to end the filibuster.

If they do, this nation is in deep, deep trouble. Since we've eliminate federalism and the power of states, granted Congress the power to abdicate to bureaucrats, given the POTUS great power of executive order, really the last protection against tyranny of the current political majority is the filibuster in the Senate. Without it the Senate and House with just one vote more and an agreeable POTUS can make radical changes without having to compromise.

That is beyond dangerous, it's a guarantee of disaster. No matter which party would have that power, their base will thirst to move far from center, and it will create an almost insurmountable political schism in the middle of the populace, radicalizing both sides to the point of no return.

Imagine how bitter things will be if for example we just got Medicare for all by one vote in the Senate, or the Green New Deal, or gun confiscation. No compromise, no give and take, no win and loss for both sides, just an absolute spike the ball win for one side.

Obama IMO was a real socialist, but as you said the checks and balances of the system temper everything, just as they've tempered Trump.

But remove some of these last few checks, end the last shreds of civility and compromise, and watch the fun ensue.
