From Fox, this guy is a Jewish Ivy League grad, and obviously brilliant b/c he's a Libertarian. ;)

In short he's not a "gun guy", didn't grow up like we did where you hunted and shot, but he joined. Nice explanation of why. Mostly it's a good read on his position on guns and gun violence.

Read that yesterday. People may be surprised if they knew the composition of the 4 million plus members of the NRA. There may be some surprises.

Without reading the link, I would suspect it would be similar to why I would join, that would be freedom of the citizens of the nation to make choices and lead their own lives.

Doc, I was thinking of you as I read the article. Reminded me very much of what you've said many times here.
Are you sure this guy isn't your twin brother?? :sign0157:
This guy's rationale is exactly the kind of logic that is needed in these times.
Now, I AM NOT a member of the NRA, I belong to Gun Owners of America(GOA). I have found that the GOA is not as willing to compromise on some issues like the NRA will. And I will not join the NRA until those guys stop giving Harry Reid money and support and a damn "A" rating when in fact he is an enemy of all Americans everywhere. THAT is why I won't join the NRA. But all of that aside, I fully understand why Mr. Root joined and I agree with his position.
