You knew the way Willie Cauley-Stein has been playing, especially of late, the UK 7-footer would eventually move up the mock draft boards. That eventually is now.
The newest NBADraft.net rankings, updated today, has the Kansas native at No. 8 for the 2013 NBA Draft.
Only Indiana’s Cody Zeller, Kansas’ Ben McLemore, UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad, UK’s Nerlens Noel, UNLV’s Anthony Bennett, Georgetown’s Otto Porter and Maryland’s Alex Len are ranked ahead of Cauley-Stein.
What’s so enticing about the forward/center is Cauley-Stein’s upside, considering that his basketball time had been limited by the fact he was a wide receiver on his high school football team.
By the way, Archie Goodwin is 15th on the NBADraft.net list. Alex Poythress is 16th.
