I would think that most everyone here is familiar with the Peter Principle. I guess there's a special category of the Peter Principle for politicians and bureaucrats. In the private sector, you reach your own level of incompetence and then your future climb up the ladder is either bleak or at least severely curtailed. As a government bureaucrat, your incompetence has no effect on your future vocational aspirations or your financial compensation. The system takes you in, embraces you, and protects you. As a politician, we reward you for your incompetence by paying you whether you're working or not, paying you while you are either campaigning to keep your job or campaigning to get a new job, increase your salary regardless of your proven abilities and successes, and the ultimate attaboy, we re-elect you. America, what a country.

We are in recession out here in the other districts. But in District One of Columbia they're partying it up.

We, the people, are screwed. Anyone who thinks this administration is driven by benevolence is a fool.

It should be noted this isn't just a democratic move. Congress typically gives itself a raise regardless of who is in charge because that actually believe they are doing a good job.

In the words of Peter Schweizer, "Throw Them All Out" (http://www.amazon.com/Throw-Them-All-Peter-Schweizer/dp/B00AK2Z2KQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356885073&sr=8-1&keywords=throw+them+all+out)

Is Congress at fault, or is the lack of true leadership in the White House the problem? The Fiscal Cliff is the latest example of our Executive in Chief refusing to work with anyone who does not follow along with him in lock step. The House passed a budget months ago, but Harry Reid refused to bring it to a vote in the Senate. We all know that Obama pulls Reid's strings and does his bidding. Now Reid refuses to negotiate on the Fiscal Cliff and McConnell has called in Joe Biden to try to get a deal worked out.

Reid said he has no counteroffer to make. SMH :533:

Well, where the hell is MY raise?? I have not had a raise since 2007...........however, I still have to put one through college, deal with all of MY BILLS continuing to rise, losing over $8000 per year in overtime that I sorely need, groceries keep going up, insurance keeps going up, gas keeps going up, TAXES keep going up, EVERYTHING keeps going up but my salary, and now this guy does this?
Have we really reached the point where nothing matters except what this MORON wants? :mad0176:
