Looking for something for my 11-year old. My oldest son recommended this, but Amazon is out of it:

Reviews on it seem to be good--have seen it elsewhere, but 512mb RAM rather than the 1gb RAM that this one came with.

I'm hearing all kinds of good things about the Nexus 7 at $199. I'd like to hear reviews from those who know it.

I have heard great things about the Nexus 7, Swoosh, but I can't give you any firsthand info on it. I follow the Droid Lawyer, who has all kind of neat tips and apps (many free for android) that are lawyer-specific.

Here's a link to some discussion he had on tablets, including the Nexus 7. It is among 5 recommended tablets, and the least expensive of all 5 of them, so that tells me something.

I liked the Nook line, but my daughter wants nothing to do with Android, so I got her an iPad Mini for Christmas. She had an HTC phone that was nothing but.trouble and it soured her on the Android platform.

With an iPhone, iPod Touch, and now the iPad Mini it gives a single platform for her to use.

The Nexus 7 is a very well built device (save they had some issues with a single screw not being tightened properly back when it was first released). You really can't go wrong with it.
