Confirmed with Texas Tech source )RedRaiderSports.com's @ChrisLevel) and family member that Neal has just agreed to be the new UK offensive coordinator in the last 45 minutes. Knew he was very, very impressed with Stoops and that made the final call
hear it will be a really nice contract
UK will make official announcement Monday. About 99 percent sure Chad Scott and John Schlarman will be asked to join him

$600K/year is the rumored number, which would make him the highest paid OC in the SEC.

Whew, I worked hard for this one, LOL. WKYT and Coachingsearch.com also reporting. Looks like he made 350k last year at TT.

Great work Larry, who is going to be the qb coach. Couch?

I think that Brown himself will coach the QBs.

Now these guys must beat the bushes and bring in an upgrade in talent, with all due respect and no offense intended toward our current kids who I respect immensely.

Any reason Texas Tech didn't consider him to replace Tuberville?

For some reason, I think TT fans weren't crazy about Tubs and Brown.

Larry's interview with the reporter from Dallas gets into that a good bit. He asks about how the fans perceive Brown and Tville. Sounds like they were down on Brown but came around some as more blame went to Tville. It's a really good read.

Personally I think b/c he wasn't risky and damaged enough, what I believe is a requirement for Tech to hire someone.

The best thing I've read about Brown is this: His playbook is about a centimeter thick. Maybe a dozen to fifteen total plays ran out of different formations or with motion to confuse the defense pre snap.

He drills in execution, not extra plays which tend to only make your offense execute more plays less efficiently. I love that.

I'd say most BCS schools should be hesitant about bumping an in-house guy up when the HC leaves. I wouldn't think a school would be well served to go that route unless they got dinged by several other candidates first.

I know a KHSAA HOF coach that is a legitimately brilliant basketball mind who has always preached that simplicity is the way to go. The guy is a basketball coach and I remember him breaking down Spurrier's Florida offense one day and explaining to me how incredibly simple it actually was. His point, of course, was that simplicity is exactly why it works so well.

Barnhart really rocked this HC hire. I think he may have laid the groundwork for Brown, as well. The AD needs to listen to his circle of power. Glad Tim Couch was in that circle and glad Mitch trusted Tim. I am very excited for the spring and to see how this squad gets after it in recruiting. Paying the OC well is a sign of real commitment to football. Cat fans should be thrilled!
