TSA was massive at Lauderdale. We have global entry so we always breeze thru with precheck but we have our son and he does not have global entry so had to do the whole gambit. We waited at the security exit for him. If you are travelling, be prepared for a thorough search. I'd guess 80% of the travellers got pat downs, many full searches, just short of cavity checks! We went thru at 5:00 AM and the wait was a good 30 minutes for him (mine was 5 min tops).

Also, parking was packed. I use an off airport lot and it was full to the point of "nothing available/reserved only". I made reservations / prepaid so not a big deal, but if not I would have been scrambling

Flying Spirit. Man, I hate Spirit but it was a 7 AM nonstop from Lauderdale to NOLA. I'm HOPING they stop in NOLA as the flight continues to Houston. I suspect they will charge me an extra fee to land the plane and another to open the door. They offered me faster security (guised as precheck) for $7.00. I already have that so not sure what the were selling. Carry on bag is $45 each way, which is $20 less then my seat cost (that is for a carry on, not a checked bag). I've not checked to see if the bathroom has a coin slot for entry.

I'm convinced the British TV show "Come Fly With Me" is based on Spirit!

For TSA I always do what Ron White recommended: take two viagra and demand a pat down.
