Two great-grandparents and four great grandchildren.

I wish people would take precautions very early and stop driving through water!

Needless stupidity. I dont care how bad it is. We went 3 days w/o water and power, hunkered down, then headed out once the streets were drivable.... until we got to someplace with electricity, found a hotel that had a room. If we had to wait 5 days, we would have...or 7 days. If we had to eat cold beans and franks every day, so be it. You don't drive thru 1) moving water or 2) water you can't see how deep it is or 3) the is above you front bumper. Its that simple

Doc is 100% correct. Don't get out in it because it isn't necessary. It's called being prepared for the event. Always have 3-5 days with of food/water, batteries, candles, emergency medical supplies, and if so inclined, firearms with enough ammunition to repel any marauding hordes that could come your way.
Your own personal situation should dictate what is necessary for you to survive.
Unless you're a dumbass. In that case you're likely to die from your own stupidity.
