I was just reading about a product called FIXD. It's a device you can plug into your OBD and it tells you in easy to understand terms what and why a specific warning light is on.

Anybody try one of these gadgets yet? Is one better than the other.

I have an OBD2 reader that works much better than that one. I just come here and post and tell everyone what it says, then the KSR guys tell me what it means.

My son has this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01761X1S8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can't find mine where I ordered. This isn't it, and I only paid about $10-15 for mine, but this is similar:

https://www.amazon.com/Ozzy-codes-Reset-light-Features-button-Full-Warranty-Android/dp/B00YY7M4AO/ref=sr_1_23?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1498931249&sr=1-23&keywords=obd2+bluetooth

I think there are a BUNCH of good ones. Mine has an "on-off" button in case you want to leave it plugged into your OBD2 port, you can turn it off so it doesn't use battery power. It is bluetooth, and I use a free app called "Torque" to read all kind of things from it. I even splurged for the "Pro" version, although it isn't necessary--maybe $5 or so. I like to support the app makers and it always gives you a little extra anyway.

I don't know why I can't find mine where I ordered, but I honestly don't think there's all that much difference in the readers. You can find them cheap as anything now.

I bought a Bluetooth wireless OBD2 scanner on eBay for $12 and it works like a charm.

They are literally all over in the $10-15 price range that work well. Amazon has a ton of them. I couldn't even find the one I bought.

ok, at least I solved my own mystery.

I thought my son had the first (wired, non-bluetooth one), because he sometimes uses the same Amazon account, and he has a lot of his own tools and such. Instead, that's my purchase--except not really.

I found my original purchase--here's a snapshot of it.

6649

So if you click on the details, it takes you to that first one. That's not the one I purchased. So I clicked on the "Order it again." It gave me a message:

Currently unavailable
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

So probably discontinued. Shame, as that one was really well built (some of them are a little too thin-plastic-y for me; this one was very solid, with a solid on/off button on it that I really like).

But as I said, there are literally dozens and dozens of them in that price range. I don't really see the need to spend what your initial offer was. You can also "google" your codes and find out what they mean as well (likely the exact same place that they are getting their information).

I have a KW808 Konnwei, works great. I paid a little more for it, $33.
