Rules are simple--you have $100 pretend KSR-bucks to wager on the Derby. Person with the most money remaining after the race wins.

One year somebody (Oledon?) said they took the $100 and put it in their pocket. As I recall, they won the contest that year. Badrose won it one year with a $330 day, as I recall. I don't recall huge wins; his may have been the best.

We'll use the correct odds, but here are the current ones, courtesy of Bovada. If you play early, watch for scratches (unless you just want a refund) so you can place another wager.

I'm going to go my usual boring, conservative wagering:

$40 Classic Empire to win

$30 Hence to show

$30 Gunnevera to show

How's that for conservative?

I'll go with Mick's way of thinking, but with a wrinkle...

$5 Exacta Box of McCracken, Irish War Cry and Always Dreaming = $30
$20 to win each on the above three, (McCracken, Irish War Cry and Always Dreaming) = $60
$10.00 to win on Patch = $10

I'll probably have to hitch ride home, oh wait, the cookout is at my house, so at least i will have that going for me.

Just edited the initial post--we haven't required a maximum three wagers in years, and I copied that from a many years-old post, so I inadvertently included it.

If anyone wants to edit their wagers because they thought they were limited on the number, feel free before post time, please. Sorry about that.

Changing the rules at the last minute. That's an old lawyer's trick. Lol

Hey--which would you rather have on your side?

The law?

The facts?

The sympathetic parties?

Nah, I'll take the judge that makes the rules every time :).

Didn't realize I'd made too many bets. I'm editing to take it down to 3 since others bet on those terms, too.

You're in. We have KSR-passes to the Derby, so you get to keep the $50 in your pocket, but you're spending the $15 in gas, the $15 to eat (we go hungry), and the $20 in parking (we park on the street in the bad neighborhood, have our hubcaps stolen and our windshields broken, so we need to win back money to pay for our deductibles.)

$50 on the Place paid $180

$4 Exacta Box Irish War Cry, Classic Empire, McCraken, Always Dreaming ($48)

I will keep the $15.00 for gas to get me home

Dan walks with his $50, courtesy of the KSR-discount admission tickets.

I show Doc as the big winner for the day, although I don't think an admonition not to spend it all in one place would be well-taken.

Did I mess anything (or everything) up? Double-checking is appreciated.
