Who's that? He was a Soviet cosmonaut who knew ahead of time that the space vehicle he would be piloting was so defective it was likely to kill him. But the Soviets wouldn't postpone the mission, and he knew that if he declined to fly, they'd send up his friend, Yuri Gagarin. So he flew the mission to save his friend's life, in spite of Gagarin showing up on launch day and trying to push his way onto the launch.
